Election 2006; There’s a First Time for Everything

Some of the firsts from this year’s election:
- Nancy Pelosi, the first woman Speaker of the House, third in line for the presidency.
- Keith Ellison of Minnesota, the first Muslim in Congress.
- Keith Ellison, the first Black person elected to the House from Minnesota.
- Amy Klobachar, the first woman to be elected to the Senate from Minnesota.

C’mon people. Whatever happened to Web 2.0? Social media? I had to dig up these two firsts myself:
- Bernie Sanders of Vermont is the first Socialist to be elected to the U.S. Senate
- Deval Patrick, the first African-American Governor of Massachusetts

- Ellen Young is the first Asian Assemblywoman in New York.
